Thank you for visiting our website and taking the time to learn about Transformation Counseling. I'm Laurie Newcomb, the founder and owner of this practice. I understand that choosing a therapist can be a daunting task. If you're dealing with anxiety, depression, addiction, life challenges, or trauma, finding someone who genuinely listens and meets you where you are is crucial.
Recognizing that everyone’s journey is unique, I employ an integrative approach to therapy, blending traditional methods with innovative modalities. Together, we'll explore the reasons that bring you to therapy, navigate your path's challenges, and uncover its possibilities. You are the author of your journey, and I'm here to support you.
I earned my B.A. in Psychology from the University of Georgia and a master’s in clinical Mental Health from Argosy University. From my first psychology class, I knew this was my calling. I'm committed to continuous learning, as new research and therapeutic techniques are always emerging. It's my responsibility to stay informed to provide the best care possible.
My training includes:
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) – EMDRIA trained
- Internal Family Systems (IFS) – Level 2 trained
- Psychedelic Psychotherapy through the Integrative Psychiatry Institute (IPI)
- Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) – trained through IPI and Journey Clinical
- Certified Clinical Trauma Professional
- Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Emory University Psychoanalytic Fellowship
I'm also a member of:
- International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD)
- National Board Certified Counselors (NBCC)
- Licensed Professional Counselors Association of Georgia (LPCGA)
The clinicians in my practice are professionals that I would choose for my own care. Each brings a unique and respectful approach to therapy, grounded in the belief that we must meet you where you are and begin there.
I appreciate your time in exploring our website and look forward to connecting with you.
